#1 name- D (Diana Natalie, but most people just call me D)
#2 age- 21
#3 location- Melbourne, Australia
#4 favorite quote/song lyric (state who or where it is from)- (This is from the song "Stay True" by one of my favourite Australian Hardcore bands, Shotpointblank) "As we stand different from each other... Not clones cut from the same mould... It's what ties us together... STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF... It's what makes each one of us our own... STAY TRUE TO YOURSELF"
#5 likes- Supporting Local Bands & the Local Music Scene, Playing the Guitar, Song-writing, Stage-Diving, Mosh, Trustkill, Extreme Sports, Wakeboarding, Hair Dye, Chunky Boots, Combat Pants, Greek/Roman mythology, Tattoos, Films, Theology, Snapping Photos, Being the BCE Merch Bitch, Tim Tams, Living Beyond the Boundaries of Labels...
#6 dislikes- Vegetables, Hello Kitty, Anime, Girls with no SELF RESPECT, Paris Hilton, the recent ban on All-Ages Gigs within the CBD area of Melbourne city, Disrespect for Other Music Scenes, Close-Mindedness, Fake Scenesters, Alcohol, Substance Abuse, Bad Grammar and Spelling on the internet (I don't give a shit if people want to use slang and abbreviations to a certain limit, and honest mistakes and typos are understandable. But making no effort whatsoever pisses me off. I don't see why others must make the effort to read an unintelligible mess someone put no effort into writing)...
#7 what is the best thing you can think of? At the very moment, it would have to be the Most Precious Blood and Shotpointblank Over-18 show this Saturday, and the All-Ages show on Sunday... I'm going for both. Line-ups for both shows are amazing and I am psyched for two days of mindblowing hardcore. Most Precious Blood AND Shotpointblank twice in one weekend? Fuck yeah.
#8 What was the best show you have ever been to? I have been to loads ever since I moved to Australia... Some that come to mind are Parkway Drive, In Name And Blood, Behind Crimson Eyes, Sparta, Carpathian, A Silent Betrayal, the Shotpointblank "Heart of a Disbeliever" album launch and the recent Halloween Hardcore show with I Killed The Prom Queen and Mindsnare headlining.
#9 What was the worst show you have ever been to? A local band called Say No More. The vocalist spent half his time on stage telling the ladies he was single, that he "drives" and frankly, he couldn't sing or move on stage for shit. The fact that he was wearing a shirt that said "If you don't like what I'm wearing, feel free to undress me" just made it sadder.
#10 Where did you find this community? Under a search for HxC communities on LJ
#11 What is the last album you bought? Just bought the "Kill Your Idols/ Full Speed Ahead" split EP and Madball's "Hold It Down"
#12 What was the last show you went to? Parkway Drive... in my opinion, one of the best and most brutal Metalcore/Hardcore bands in Australia, from Byron Bay.
#13 Opinions...explanations get more points
a. abortion... Pro-choice. However, abortion should NOT be regarded as a form of birth control.
b. gay marriage... Pro-acceptance and legalisation. Love is love. Gender and concepts of "normal marriage" are only defined by language and socio-political norms. Love should not have to conform to what is imposed upon an entire nation by the ideologies of its conservative heterosexual majority.
c. the radio... I hate the radio. I prefer to control what I expose my ears to, and listen to what I want, when I want it.
d. censorship... I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of expression. While I understand that certain extremities need to be monitored to some extent, I think it's ridiculous that some films, songs and art pieces are subject to heavy censorship when worse things can be seen on the television news. However, in most instances, I think truth and honesty is more important than attempts to make the general public see the world through rose-tinted glasses.
e. anorexia... is not a fashion. Anyone who treats anorexia like it's trendy chic needs to be shot in the spleen. People who genuinely suffer from Anorexia should seek psychological help as it's not about food or being thin. It's usually a deeper psychological issue that needs to be addressed.
f. the fast-food industry... Feeds poor University students with no cooking skills, living on their own. Like me. I am against KFC and the way they treat their chickens. But the Subway on the corner is my best friend.
g. animal cruelty... sucks. People who abuse animals should get the same jail sentence as those who abuse humans. Someone has to be completely cruel to torture a helpless being with little ability to fight back.
h. veganism... I respect it but could never do it myself due to aforementioned hatred of vegetables. There would be almost nothing I could eat if I gave up ALL animal products. I do, however, try to buy free-range eggs and stuff like that.
i. Bush... is evil. (I would list reasons but that might require 5 days worth of writing)
j. Kerry... is evil. Perhaps, he is the lesser of the two evils, but that fails to detract from the fact that he is nonetheless, evil.
a. movie... Amelie, Kill Bill, Fight Club, A Clockwork Orange, Igby Goes Down, Sid & Nancy, Lord of the Rings, Le Mepris, The Passion of the Christ, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Clandestine, American Beauty, Girl Interrupted, Goodfellas, Breakfast At Tiffanys.... many others.
b. band/artist... AFI, I Killed The Prom Queen, Parkway Drive, Shotpointblank, Walls of Jericho, Most Precious Blood, From Autumn To Ashes, Madball, A Perfect Murder, Death By Stereo, Poison The Well, Hatebreed, Throwdown, Floorpunch, Bleeding Through, Between The Buried And Me, Evergreen Terrace, Until The End, Hopesfall, Raised Fist, Black My Heart, Unearth, Martyr AD, 18v, Bloodlined Calligraphy, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Everytime I Die, Norma Jean, Cro-Mags, Terror... again, too many to choose from. I am bad with narrowing down just one or two when it comes to things I'm passionate about.
c. song... Changes all the time. At the moment, it's a toss-up between "Apparition" by Most Precious Blood, "To Kill Tomorrow" by I Killed The Prom Queen, "Unaffected" by Shotpointblank and "Camo Is My Favorite Color" by Bury Your Dead (this one's mainly for the sick breakdown).
d. author... Anne Rice, Tolkien, Paulo Coelho and Edgar Allen Poe
e. food... Tim Tams and anything Chocolate
f. article of clothing... Parkway Drive hoody (in one of the pictures below, though you can only see the word "Drive")
With two friends at a show
Doing merch for a local band
Favourite "Parkway Drive" hoody
HALLOWEEN THIS YEAR:
